My Top 10 Favourite Series (May 2019) #FavouriteFridays

I last did a Top 10 Favourites list in 2017. Since then I have read a lot of books and my list has changed a lot. I started bookstagram and that’s really added a lot of great books to my reading list!

I tried putting this in as much of an order as I could but its really difficult!

  1. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Of course, this needs no explanation. She is my role model and my hero. She is an amazing author. And this series is by far the best book series ever released. (I might be biased here.)

Harry Potter, although deemed a children’s series, is one of the most life-changing books you will read. These were the first books that got me addicted to reading. They are brilliant and for any age.

2. Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

This series is just brilliant. We follow a female assassin. Of course, Harry Potter always takes the first spot but I still consider this my favorite series.  Maas is an amazing writer and each book gets better than the last.

3. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

ACOTAR is a binge-worthy, amazing series. Although the first book is good, it’s not amazing. But then I read the second book and I was hooked! These characters, this storyline, the WORLD. I was blown away. Even though I read this 5 months ago, I already want to do a reread.

4. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

1880 LONDON SHADOWHUNTERS!!! I did not particularly love the mortal instruments. I was hesitant to read this since I didn’t love TMI. But BOY WAS I BLOWN AWAY. Everything about this from the setting to the characters to the writing is BRILLIANT! I need to do a reread soon.

5. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer

When I started reading this I knew I would like it but I had no clue that I would become OBSESSED! Futuristic retellings of classic Fairy-Tales. Cyborgs, Princes, Princesses, Hybrids and Space Travel! I binged this series in a week (in the middle of my exams.) Everything about it is great.

6. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I have only read Six of Crows (and am currently reading Crooked Kingdom) and I was hesitant to fall in love with it. Little did I know that with every page and every character I was completely falling in love. My favorite thing about any book is the amazing characters. That is why this is on this list. The characters are some of the best developed, realistic characters. They are so unique and obsessed-worthy. I have taken so long to start Crooked Kingdom because when I fall in love with characters I feel like I lose them when I finish the series. Although I can do a reread, its never the same as experiencing it for the first time.

7. Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

I read an ARC of this book and I was completely in love. Although this is only the first book in the series and the sequel has not yet been released, I know for a fact that the brilliant writing and amazing characters are going to become one of my favorites. It is saying a lot to put this on my favorite series list, but that just proves how amazing the first book was!

8. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

This is, of course, one of my favorites! The first book was good. I loved the sassy and funny Rose. It was great and I enjoyed it and so I read the next book. All of a sudden I was obsessed with this series. THE PLOT TWISTS WERE AMAZING. The plot of this series is brilliant and I was constantly taken aback by the unexpected and amazing events that happened. The characters ARE AMAZING and I’m sure if you are reading this you have figured out how amazing I think this series is!

9. Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan

Even though this is a middle-grade book, I absolutely adored this series. The ending left me speechless and I adored every single book. The battle of the labyrinth was one of my favorites in the series. This series is funny, intriguing and I adore every single character. I absolutely love Riordan’s writing.

10. Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit by JRR Tolkien

This definitely needs no introduction. It took me about 2 years to read LOTR. I love this series even though it took me forever. The world building and characters are amazing. One of my favourite characters is TOM BOMBADIL !! I love the Elves and the other species that appear in this series. My favorite book is actually The Hobbit because it was easy to read and super fun and an exciting adventure.

Honorable mentions:

Folk of the Air by Holly Black

I read both of these books recently and I AM OBSESSED!! The characters are cruel and the plot is wicked. It will probably be on my favorites list when I update it again. Queen of Nothing is coming out next year and I want to read it before I decide if this series is one of my favorites. The way that Wicked King ended… I am still in recovery from that.

WOW. Carnival was an awe-striking, stunningly written, MIND BLOWING BOOK. I am keeping judgment on this series to myself until I read Legendary and Finale in May, but I can tell you right now that I am pretty sure that this is going to make it onto my next favorites list. Amazing setting, mind-boggling plot twists and super insane events. This circus is not what people think and always remember – its only a game.

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

This series is the definition of don’t judge a book by its cover. This is a spin-off series from Vampire Academy and it was full of the same amazing things that VA was full of.

Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

Heroes of Olympus x5 PB Slipcase

I love this series. It’s a series that precedes Percy Jackson and follows another group of kids from the Roman god’s version of Camp Half-Blood. This is a super fun series for people a little older than Percy Jackson. Although Riordan has a ton of other books out, I am yet to read them.

The Maze Runner by James Dashner

I adored this series when I read it. It is full of plot twists and great characters. It used to be on my top 10 favorites but it has been taken over by the other books on this series. James Dashner is an amazing writer and this series is brilliant.

That was a long list to read! If you made it to the end I hope you found some books you might like to read soon.

Happy Reading !
