Down the TBR Hole #3

This is week three of Down the TBR hole and I will be going through my next 5 books on my Goodreads TBR. These are number 22-26 on my list (as most of the previous ones were series).

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost In A Story (as well as the banner!)

How it works:

  • Go to your Goodreads to be read shelf
  •  Order on ascending date added
  •  Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  •  Read the synopses of the books
  •  Decide: keep it or should it go?

1. Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick

Sometimes I look at books like these and I think – wow this was definitely a 14-year-old me read. Then why the hell is it on my Goodreads from 2015 when I was a rational 18-year-old human? If romance thrillers are your thing, this might be for you. Although in reality, this can be a very interesting book, I think I am past the age where I would have read this.

Verdict: Go

2. Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes #1) by Sara Raasch

This series has been on my TBR for years and yet here I am, still loving the look and sound of it. Still hoping to one day read it. Although I did recently buy the third book! So I am slowly working my way towards this one. Saying this… I’m pretty sure right now was the first time I actually read the synopsis. That’s how being a bookworm works sometimes I guess. Magic, romance, amazing author. Enough said.

Verdict: KEEP

3. Nevermore (Nevermore #1) by Kelly Creagh

I think you can tell what I am going to say just by looking at this cringe cover. Paranormal romance? I’m a bit over it. Although this was probably released during the craze, I can’t imagine myself reading it.

Verdict: Go

4. The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy #1) by Jennifer A. Nielsen

Tretchery, Deceit, Cunning plans and royalty. WHERE HAS THIS BOOK BEEN? Why did this book get lost in the black hole of the dreaded TBR list? I NEED to read this book.

Verdict: KEEP

5. Avalon (Avalon #1) by Mindee Arnett

This sounds interesting. Intergalactic mercenaries and thieves. I don’t read sci-fi often but I will keep this on my TBR because it is possible for me to one day pick this up and really enjoy it.  And Victoria Scott gave it 5 stars so there must be something about this book that makes it good.

Verdict: Keep

I might have been a little bit rough with my 2 ‘Go’ books. I never thought that I would be so quick to dismiss a book but I guess this is me knowing what I do and don’t enjoy.

Happy Reading !
