I am a massive Sarah J Maas fan and she did not disappoint with ACOTAR. This book was a great start to this exciting series!

Synopsis

Feyre’s survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price …

Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre’s presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever.

Review

I adored this book! I’ve also finished the second book and it gets even better. This book brilliantly set the scene for this new and fantastic world. It has quickly became a favourite. This book deals with fae and fairies AND THERE’S EVEN MAGIC!

I am obsessed with Throne of Glass and I had no idea what to expect from ACOTAR. The two series are barely similar but the style is uniquely Sarah J Maas. My favourite thing about Maas is that she is great at setting expectations and then completely demolishes those expectation. Her style of writing is easy and extremely fast paced. There is never a dull moment and unexpected twists are waiting around every corner.

The world was build wonderfully and the richness of it left me in awe. I felt as if I was living the story alongside Feyre. From the first moment I started reading I knew that I loved Feyre’s character. Each and every character changes and grows so exponentially in the course of the first book. It is very difficult to review this book without spoiling anything. Let’s just say that things never turn out as predicted.

This series has quickly become one of my favourites! I definitely think that if you are a fantasy and/or Sarah J Maas fan you would love this series. The fantasy element, and the characters add something extra special to the already brilliant story.

Happy Reading !
