My Book Rating: 5/5 StarStarStarStarStar

If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human.

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers—boys whose memories are also gone.

Nice to meet ya, shank. Welcome to the Glade.

Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out—and no one’s ever made it through alive.

Everything is going to change.

Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying.

Remember. Survive. Run.

The Maze Runner is a brilliant adventure story. It has a mixture of great adventure, thrilling suspense and even a few mind games.
We start off the adventure confused and puzzled, just like very boy who has ever taken the elevator up into The Glade and awoken with no memory except their name. When Thomas awakes he too can only recall his name. Thomas finds himself trapped between four towering walls that mechanically open and close every morning and every evening. It doesn’t take Thomas long to get his fair share of friends and enemies in the Glade but the one and only thing that he is constantly concerned with is his deep desire to become one of the highly esteemed Runners. The Runners go out every morning when the doors open to explore the ever changing Maze with their deadline being no later than the closing of the doors at night. If they don’t make it back in time there is only one fate that awaits them, to be taken by The Grievers.

Thomas is clever, fast on his feet and has a secret that could be the key to getting everyone out of The Glade, with the help of a new addition to the Glader family only one thing is certain – “Everything is going to change.”
This book officially made it onto the corner of the bookshelf reserved for my absolute favourites. I have definitely read my fair share of books, so I do not take this glowing recommendation lightly. Well I can say one thing for certain, anyone who has ever picked up a book, or is planning on reaching for one soon, should definitely consider this to be their first choice. It was a gripping, thrilling, bewildering, cryptic, brilliant adventure that should never be overlooked. No matter how old you are this is a book for you. So take a little time to bask in the simple (and fantastic) pleasure of reading a great book.
